The Fund for Internet Research and Education from AFRINIC has benefited seven Kenyans researchers and startups before. More Kenyans can benefit from this is the word goes around.
AFRINIC has planned a Tweetathon to promote the FIRE program and ensure the communication on the grants has reached a wider audience within the Continent before the expiry date of 31st May 2016.
The idea of a tweetathon is to have as many accounts tweeting at the same time on the same #hashtag (#FIREAfrica) that it may even trend on twitter. This way, we can communicate to our collective audience, with the language our audience understand.
The Aim of the Fund for Internet Research and Education is to boost innovative solutions and research that enhance the use of ICT within the continent. Just yesterday, Native Project fro FIRE was in Geneva, Switzerland, at the World Summit on the Information Society meeting to receive the WSIS Champion Certificate for the NatiV Project http://www.itu.int/net4/wsis/stocktakingp/en/Database/Search?pId=1447600201. That is the aim of FIRE program.
Basic rules for a Tweetathon
———————————————
1. Use a common hashtag: #FIREAfrica
2. Tweets with images are more visible. You can attach any relevant appropriate image with your tweets
3. Tweet in common days: 5th, 6th and 7th May 2016.
4. Ride on other popular hashtags: currently #FASTAfrica #AIS16
5. Tweet with your personal twitter account
6. Retweet other similar tweets
7. If you have TweetDeck, schedule your tweet to send at certain intervals
We have generated some tweets for you. You can compose your own new generic tweets. You can tweet in any language understandable by any community in Africa. If there is any clarification, don’t hesitate to contact me.
