Waudo, I beg to differ (disclosure: probably because I sit on the KASNEB ICT Syllabus Board) on two accounts. 1. That the KASNEB ICT syllabus is for Accountants and 2. That KICT Board should have nothing to do with KASNEB. Count 1: Syllabi for Accountants? The KASNEB ICT syllabus is aimed to create mid-level, technical personnel in the ICT sector. Any doubting expert can visit http://www.kasneb.or.ke/cict.htm to see the course outline which incidentally you (Waudo and I) contributed to in 2005. In addition, this syallabus is already under review by another Task force to make it more relevant (tell me which university/college here in Kenya reviews their syllabus in such turn-around record times?) Count 2: ICT board has/should have nothing to do with KASNEB? I think ICT board has an interest in the ICT technical capacity in this country. It would be futile to market Kenya as an ICT destination, when one knows the gaps or inadequacy we have particularly at the levels that our Polytechnics (now all rushing to be universities) used to address. Finally, KASNEB has an Accounting background but is moving into providing their Examination Expertise into other areas (ICT, Actural Science, etc) and you are right:-They have a legal mandate and parliamentary basis for this. Something the Computer Soceity of Kenya, ITSA and other ICT professional bodies have sought to no avail. BTW KASNEB does not have the technical capacity to make any ICT Syllabus. They had to call in a team of ICT experts, including me, to write the CICT syllabus for them. The syllabus we made out is geared for accountants.

The recommendations will be presented to KASNEB for the review of the Certification Curriculum, on September 26, 2008 at a venue to be communicated closer to the date.
