Just a quick update...
AfriNIC is the continental organization mandated to manage and distribute Internet Protocol (IP)- resources in Africa. IP is that unique number you and I need to connect to the Internet. So yes, AfriNIC is important, you just did not know how important :-).
And they held elections last Thursday for the West, North African Board members and 1 non regional representaive. The result were.
10 June 2016 - As a result of the Elections for Board seats that took place on Thursday 09 June 2016 during the Annual General Members' Meeting (AGMM) in Gaborone, we are pleased to announce the appointment of the following candidates to the AFRINIC Board:
- Western Africa: Sunday Folayan (Nigeria)
- Northern Africa: Haitham Z. El Nakhal (Egypt)
- Non geographical: Seun Ojedeji (Nigeria)
The new Board members will serve for a term of three years from 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2019. We congratulate the new Board Members and wish them success in their new roles.

Yes, no Kenyan or East African there. But that is because the East African Directors elections were hel last year where our representative is from Tanzania, one Eng Abibu Ntahigiye.
