I agree with you 101 % ICTA is out of line with this, thats not there mandate ,
The data they are looking for is already held by counties and road authority agencies
before way-leave is issued drawings are submitted to both and on that basis , permit is given

100%. Timely.

I, however, agree with Collins. ICTA has ZERO mandate to do this. Let's be careful how we implement a good idea. My take:-

Engage with organizations like TESPOK and get them to have their members understand the importance of such an exercise. Meanwhile, also tell Kenyans how we can better use National Assets like NOFBI.

To me, it seems a timely intervention. What is now required is for the different agencies to work in concert. CA, ICTA, Ministry of Roads, etc.

We are always advocating for DIG ONCE policies for our roads and walkways. How will that be achieved if we don't start somewhere? For example, a register will show that Road X has no ducts, therefore Ministry of Roads should prioritize ducts the next time works are being done, the same way it prioritizes drainage, road furniture, pedestrians, etc.

This is one of the policy interventions we have always been advocating in the different fora we have been holding.

I smell overreach. With an asset like Nofbi, ICTA should be focused more on using that to break barriers in the industry than doing an inventory of private asset lists.

Does ICTA have that kind of mandate? does regulation not squarely lie in the hands of CA?

Is ICTA and CA one and the same ?

Is there a copy of these regulations anywhere? The message in the AD seemed to be along the lines of “Be a good citizen and send us this info”.

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has introduced new regulations that will see fibre optic networks registered with them. The authority announced these new regulations via an advertisement in the paper.
