Listers, I believe it is in order to congratulate one of us on his deserving appointment. Dr. BITANGE NDEMO has finally landed a government appointment as Kenya's new ambassador to Brussels-Belgium. Dr.NDEMO said after he was sacked as PS by the Jubilee govt in 2013 many of his friends deserted him. I am not talking about your phone records(SMS and Voice), m-pesa transactions and/or bank transactions that may be held/copied elsewhere. Are your devices viewed as extensions of your mind? We all store sensitive things we can't remember on our devices. Lastly, can you be compelled to unlock your own device? A case was filed today naming Meta and Samasource Kenya as respondents. It alleges they have violated workers' human rights, engaged in human trafficking and forced labor. The exercise was conducted in Kenya, South Africa, Armenia, and Jordan and more than 80 people from government, the private sector, and civil society took part. Grace emphasized that ‘Data privacy is critical to provide citizens with the freedom to share data that they wish to share. They need to be confident that they are not being surveilled online or in other forms. Happy Easter Listers, The Kenya Internet Governance Forum (KIGF) is an annual meeting that brings together various stakeholder groups to dialogue on ICT and Internet policy. While the discussions give soft policy outcomes, KIGF is a knowledge-sharing platform that informs and inspires policy actors in both the public and private sectors. The national forum also feeds into the regional and global IGFs through a chain of reporting and representation to the regional and global IGFs to ensure bottom-up Internet policy development processes and a strong link between global and local internet policies. This year’s global IGF will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The global IGF theme is ‘*Resilient Internet for a shared sustainable and common future’.* The Kenya IGF theme is aligned to the global IGF theme and will respond to the local context including the upcoming 2022 general election. The Forum programme may be developed in line with the following global IGF sub-themes, but through multistakeholder dialogue, listers can choose topics that they feel are closer to home. 1.Connecting all People and Safeguarding Human Rights. 2. Avoiding Internet Fragmentation. 3. Governing Data Protection and Privacy. 4. Enabling Safety Security and. Accountability . 5. Addressing Advanced Technologies including AI. On behalf of the local Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG), we'd be interested to hear your views on the issues and topics that are a priority for Kenya, and you think ought to be discussed during this year's Kenya IGF. As we mourn and celebrate the 3rd President of Kenya, Emilio Mwai Kibaki, let us remember his transformative agenda for the ICT industry in Kenya, especially in giving professionals free reign and putting Kenya on the world ICT map. President Kibaki was instrumental in the success of M-PESA, Open Data initiative, undersea Internet cables, the Konza Technopolis Silicon Savanna, and attracting foreign investments. Indeed, during his tenure as president, innovation hubs flourished and we continue to reap the dividends of his vision. KICTANet is grateful for the enabling environment President Kibaki fostered. KICTANet was formed during his reign as a platform for all stakeholders, and not just government to engage in ICT policy discussions.
