Listers, Two petitioners have gone to Court seeking to reverse President Ruto's directive for all government services to be paid for through a single Paybill number. The petitioners want it quashed for want of kegality/Constitutionality because: - That the directive is not grounded in the PFM or any other Statutory Act. - That there was no public participation regarding the same - That it does not distinguish, as it should between County and National government services. Kenya proposes to legalise phone, email tapping in illegal cash fight

Telephone calls and emails of Kenyans suspected to be dealing in money laundering and terrorism financing will be tapped if parliament approve changes to a Bill seeking to escalate the fight against terrorism and dirty money deals in the country. The parliamentary committee on Finance proposed the changes to the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating of Terrorism Financing Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2023 seeking to legalise the bugging of suspects’ private communication. The proposal, if adopted by the House, will give the State security machinery unfettered access to private communications of suspects in money laundering and terrorism financing. Dear Listers, A petitioner has called on members of parliament in Kenya to ban the use of popular social media application TikTok saying it is a contributor to erosion of cultural and religious morals in the society.
