The World Bank has a large lending portfolio of natural disaster risk management projects: 195 active and pipeline projects amounting to USD 8248 Million. How does the information revolution change the way we deal with disasters? The key objective of this workshop is to raise awareness on the opportunities to improve the impact of disaster risk management projects via innovative and effective use of ICT and to help understand better key lessons learned, success factors and good practices. A series of case studies and presentations will discuss the enabling and transformational role of ICT applications throughout the full cycle of Disaster Risk Management activities: risk assessment, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. Third, if the factual evidence shows a breach in their "contract" for employment, dismiss them. Fourth, if they have broken laws take them to court. Hold them accountable. I agree with Brian. I recall covering the econet issue before Dr Ndemo became PS. we have since moved in leaps and bounds. Mischief at work here. Dear Colleagues The Kenya ICT Board (KICTB) in conjunction with the Kenya Network Information Centre (KENIC), the Kenya ICT Action Network (KICTANet), the East African ICT for Development Network (EA ICT4D) and other participating organisations are pleased to announce the Kenya Internet Governance Forum (Kenya IGF) to be held on the 14th of October, 2008 at the Jacaranda hotel in Westlands. The Kenya IGF will offer a central forum through which Internet stakeholders in Kenya can contribute to the global Internet Governance Forum. The Kenya IGF is a follow up to the KICTANet mailing list discussions on Internet Governance, which were held in August 2008, and aimed at beginning to identify and explore national level Internet Governance issues. The national forum aims at: · creating awareness on IGF issues, · instituting a consensus building process to develop a common understanding of Kenyan Internet Governance issues and · building policy capacity in order to enable meaningful participation in global Internet policy, governance and development.
