Dear Listers, As part of our ongoing efforts to assess the effectiveness and impact of Kenya's Data Protection Act (2019) over the past five years and in anticipation of the NADPA Conference being held from 7 - 9 May 2024, we are reaching out to gather your valuable insights and reflections. To this end, KICTANet will be moderating an online discussion on the KICTANet mailing list from *Monday 29 April 2024 - Friday 3 May 2024.* We want to draw special attention to the contributions of the Data Governance and Emerging Technologies Working Group on the ICT legislative reform process and in particular the recommendations on data governance. Dear Listers, The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) on 17th April, 2024 launched the 2024 ICT Week and Kuza ICT Awards. The ICT Week provides a platform for dialogue with ICT industry stakeholders on emerging issues in the sector. On the other hand, the Kuza ICT Awards seek to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions in the ICT industry. The ICT Week and Kuza ICT Awards are slated for 5th to 7th June 2024 under the theme, "Innovation for a sustainable digital future". This year, the awards fall under the following broad thematic areas: 1. Broadcasting Category 2. Postal and Courier Category 3. Green ICT Category 4. Telecommunications Category 5.
