Call for KIGF Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG)

Good afternoon Listers, Over the years KICTANet has convened the Kenya Internet Governance Forum (KIGF) which is an annual meeting that brings together various stakeholder groups to dialogue on ICT and Internet policy. In preparation for this year's KIGF, KICTANet wishes to invite volunteers from the different stakeholder groups to assist in the preparation of the KIGF2022, which will be held in June 2022. The volunteers will form The Steering Team otherwise known as the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) whose role is to assist in convening the Kenya IGF by preparing the programme and schedule and to improve the IGF process through community consultations, outreach and stakeholder engagement. MAG members volunteer and serve in their personal capacity, and are expected to have established linkages with their respective stakeholder groups. To express interest, please send an email to info(a)kictanet.or.ke with the subject line "Kenya IGF 2022 MAG" indicating your stakeholder group, expertise and why you are interested in joining the steering committee of KIGF 2022 by *6th of April 2022.* Membership to the steering team is voluntary and all materials produced by KICTANet are published under creative commons licenses. It assesses how the implementation of the Data Protection Act, 2019 impacts the 2022 Kenyan elections. According to the authors, Victor Kapiyo and Tevin Mwendwa, unlike previous elections, the 2022 election will be the first to be held with a comprehensive data protection law in place. The brief underscores the mandate of the IEBC to compile and maintain a roll of registered voters in the country at the ward, constituency, and national level. Digital Identification: Huduma Bill

FRESH: A study paper on human-centred cybersecurity: Kenyan Fintech sector

[image: image.png] Dear Listers, We just had a very interactive session during the launch of our study paper on 'human-centred cybersecurity: Kenyan Fintech sector' that was commissioned by Trsut4Cyber-Flagship with the support of our partners. "This study maps the cybersecurity landscape in Kenya with a focus on the financial sector, and advocates for a humancentric approach in cybersecurity. It also provides the Kenyan country context in legislation, stakeholders, and the financial sector noting the increased access, use and adoption of ICTs in the country, which were facilitating the digital payments in the country, and whose value continued to grow as e-commerce became mainstream." Listers, When COVID-19 hit Kenya two years ago ( time moves fast), there was a lot of talk around surveillance, intrusion into ones privacy. KICTANet was not left behind together with partners, Article 19 and Policy, we dug deeper to understand - "Unseen Eyes, Unheard Stories..." https://youtu.be/oSi0scwRpa8 On the bright side, Kenya begun to embrace telemedicine, a novel idea. Indeed, an exponential rise with how we are engaging with digital health services via smartphones ( now competing with over the counter concept).
