Dear KICTANET members, Find attached rough (ignore typo's etc) notes taken during the monthly planning meeting that took place on May 4, 2005 at the jacaranda hotel. Please note that there was a concern raised regarding the chronic absence of some members of the network during the planning meetings and I would wish to take this opportunity to encourage network members to at least attend or send their proxy to attend these monthly planning meetings, which are used for brainstorming and strategic planning. Also kindly note urgent action points: 1. Awareness creation campaign parliamentary group that is being coordinated by KIF, Charles could you kindly send an update to the list. 2. Fundraising activities, members responsible, Florence, Brian, Willie, Alice, and PS ministry information and communication. I shall share the draft proposal with you all shortly thanks, if there are any comments/clarifications please let me know kind regards A. Parliamanterians at Policy Meeting

Dear Alice, All I had a meeting yesterday with our Ambassador (Mary Odinga) here in Cairo and in the discussions arose the question of whether arrangements have been made to ensure Parliamentarians will be at the Mombasa Policy meeting. I did need not have any information on this but the ambassador was of the opinion we must ensure the invitation is sent out to Parliamentarians. Any info? In the meantime Brian Longwe made a very well received presentation to the Africa ICT ministers on the Africa Regional IxP program. It's also relieving to see Mungusi back at CCK. National ICT Stakaholders Conference Mombasa

Dear Colleagues During the ICT donor round table and Ministry of Information and Communications meeting held on Tuesday 3rd May 2005, Florence Etta, Shem Ochudho and I were requested to join the organising committee constituted for the national ICT Stakeholders workshop. The organising committee chair Mr. Mugabe had suggested 6th May for the first committee meeting, but unfortunately this meeting did not take place. So I have nothing much to report apart from the following issues that were discussed informally 1. The workshop has been postponed to June 6-8 2005 in view of a number of other communication related events taking place during the month of May 2. The letter requesting for funding has been drafted and I believe posted to the various organisations that had expressed interest in supporting the event. 3.
