We have posted a few tips in the course announcements section for improving your learning experience and avoiding common errors we have observed as the course progresses. For learners who are aiming to achieve certification for participation, we recommend that you consult these guidelines. If you have fallen behind, there is still time to use your Monday to brush up on the definition of OER by viewing David Wiley's video signpost introducing OER and a few OER definitions before we take a more detailed look at copyright and Creative Commons licenses later this week. If you haven't had a chance yet, please complete the Fair and reasonable practice survey (even if you are not an active participant in OCL4Ed). This forms part of an open international study on what educators think about sharing teaching materials. Kenyan Tech Firms and Transparency

Dear Listers I think its a high time that Kenyan Tech Firms start releasing transparency reports like is being done by Google Yahoo! and others. It is important for the public to know among others what ISPs and mobile telcos are doing with user data, who has requested for it, who they have shared it with and why. Victor Yahoo legal action over data report 9 September 2013 6:14 PM Yahoo says the requests with which it complied applied to fewer than 0.01% of its users worldwide. Yahoo has begun legal action demanding it be allowed to disclose details of US national security agencies' requests to access the personal data of its users. @Kivuva, Am not advocating...am being realistic. I think every executive arm of government deserves to chose its "key" players -as long as they do so within acceptable standards and the sucessful candidate meets the minimum qualifications. The public advert will allow us to confirm the qualifications and provide assurance that the succesfull candidate at least went to school. Beyond that, the rest at this high level is really political and if you ask me it happens in all governments globally. That is why you and I are not CS and PS respectively - even though we both went to school. But I can assure you there are people who are equally against the Ag. CEO and are waiting for a blunder to be made and then make a move.
