The National Computer and Cybercrime Coordination Committee (NC4) has finally published draft regulations to manage Kenya’s critical information infrastructure. https://nc4.go.ke/cmca-2018-draft-regulations/ Big win on localization that’ll hopefully spark conversation not only on software but hardware as well. A time must come when devices are built secure by design or default (Blackberry style).

Listers, Two petitioners have gone to Court seeking to reverse President Ruto's directive for all government services to be paid for through a single Paybill number. The petitioners want it quashed for want of kegality/Constitutionality because: - That the directive is not grounded in the PFM or any other Statutory Act. - That there was no public participation regarding the same - That it does not distinguish, as it should between County and National government services. Telephone calls and emails of Kenyans suspected to be dealing in money laundering and terrorism financing will be tapped if parliament approve changes to a Bill seeking to escalate the fight against terrorism and dirty money deals in the country. The parliamentary committee on Finance proposed the changes to the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating of Terrorism Financing Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2023 seeking to legalise the bugging of suspects’ private communication. The proposal, if adopted by the House, will give the State security machinery unfettered access to private communications of suspects in money laundering and terrorism financing. The Executive Officer of Bridget Connect Consultancy Bob Ndolo in a petition to the National Assembly on Tuesday, called on MPs to move with speed and ban the use of TikTok in the country as it is exposing young people to explicit sexual content.
