This is the second intake after a directive was given by HE the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta on 10th February 2015, to increase the intake of trainees from the current 100 recruited in its inaugural programme to 400 annually beginning 2016. Last year, the programme saw 100 interns go through training and placement in various private and public sector organizations. They are awaiting graduation with some having already got employment. PDTP is a private sector and government collaborative initiative that aims to train recent ICT graduates with a view to improving ICT management in government as a means of enhancing service delivery to *mwananchi. * PDTP targets ICT graduates who must be Kenyan citizens, and have graduated from recognized ICT programmes in the last two years and attained First or Upper Second Class Honours (or the equivalent). The yearlong PDTP training is a mix of public and private sector attachments, intense specialized training, and certification. In addition, trainees work with seasoned mentors for career guidance and are challenged to innovate with a view to enhancing public ICT services. Successful PDTP trainees graduate with a merit certificate and may get preference in joining the public sector in ICT-related positions. PDTP offers great opportunities for individuals committed to public service and dedicated to continuous improvement in the service of the Kenyan *mwananchi. * The Presidential Digital Talent Programme is in line with the country's Vision 2030, the Jubilee Manifesto and the National ICT Master Plan developed by the ICT Authority. I was astounded that the whole discussion degenerated to the issue of homosexuality!! My questions and concerns were quite clear and they alluded to our total lack of policy regarding Net Neutrality. And address in an ICT Forum. KFCB used the right tools to ask for the video take down. The same tools have been used by other governments. With all due respect to the CS but I think he needs to be careful not to simplify this important matter. Let's discuss it fully and come up with our own Net Neutrality version. This definitely doesn't include abdicating our responsibilities as a country to global internet companies. This will be a recipe for disaster. Thank you Husein for this. You have captured the issue of the "Same sex" video very well. I think this debate goes to show the urgent need for the forum we discussed on Net Neutrality. I believe this forum is creating the necessary conversations on the issue but we now need to escalate it to a stakeholder forum and come up with a report that can inform policy change. It is important to remember that Apple have indeed provided assistance in this particular case. The point of contention is that the security and privacy of every legitimate Apple user would be compromised if they were to comply with the court order.
