Listers, This is indeed good news. We have a lot of hope in Mucheru and Victor Kyalo industry veterans who have indeed worked their way through the trenches. Most importantly we hope to see the return of a multi stakeholder form of engagement in the sector which we have been yearning for in a while. I think as a sector we might need to prepare a wish list for our new leaders and most importantly commit to work with them towards achieving their mandate. The reshuffle is timely still it comes at the end of the year and will allow us to start 2016 on a new slate. Dear all, See below for a consultancy gig alert. — The Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE) is looking an advisor for the program team of the global Conference for Cyber Capacity Building taking place in November 2022. This position is for a period of 10 months. The expected starting date is March 1st 2022. Background To adequately support and secure digital transformation all countries should engage and invest in building cyber capacity. Cyber capacity building (CCB) is a key enabler of sustainable and resilient digital development. Much has been done to promote best practices in CCB but insufficient awareness among key decision-makers and a lack of resources sometimes hinders implementation. There is an urgent need for high-level collaboration. To drive this forward, the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE), CyberPeace Institute, World Bank and World Economic Forum have joined forces to organize the Global Conference on Cyber Capacity Building 2022 to advance, operationalize and collaborate on CCB. The Conference will be hosted by World Bank in late November 2022. This conference will bring together high-level decision-makers, senior working-level representatives from government agencies and experts from across the public sector, private sector and civil society to accelerate: · current multi-stakeholder cooperation; · establish a Global Coalition on Cyber Resilience for Development and an international CCB agenda; · raise decision-makers’ awareness of how cybersecurity and CCB support digital, social and economic development. Role The Global Conference on Cyber Capacity Building aims to raise the profile and allocation of resources for cyber capacity building as a core enabler of digital development and prosperity. A key enabler to achieving this ambition is effective coordination and leadership regarding the conference’s organization. As part of the governance structure of the Global Conference, three teams will be formed: the Program team (responsible for conference program), the Communication team and the Event (logistics) team. The program advisor will be part of the program team of this conference, and works with the Communications team and the Event team. Duties and Responsibilities - Help design the program and synthetize inputs from the GFCE community and the event organizers. - Describe the objectives, key questions for the program elements (panels; workshops, etc). - Support with the preparations of key conference outcomes like the chair statement and global agenda. - Support the selection of Conference speakers, moderators and participants. The question came as a result of a Twitter conversation from Ms Wamuyu Kariuki who apparently was out of the country and her SIM card expired. As a result, she was given another Sim card which 'apparently belonged to somebody and she apparently used to receive messages from the SIM card's contacts. *A. "I receive church contributions report every week for a church in Kisumu on the number attached to my Till Number. I know how much they collect every Sunday per district. How safe is this?"* *B. However, the history of what loans, subscriptions and crimes committed if any is not cleared and that follows the new owner. The question that must be asked is how people *non-consensually* got registered as members of political parties. What does choosing either of the two resignation reasons mean? As the digital currency(Just a ledger) will be 1:1 to all other forms of money that CBK has the legal right to issue, the question I ask is why every adult/person who has reached the age of consent doesn't have an account directly with the #CBK. It'll avoid inefficiencies such as going through intermediaries or special purpose vehicles when a nation is writhing in economical crisis such as what the last 2 years has been. As Scott Galloway has said during the pandemic "we need to be very harsh on companies but compassionate on households and people. You put money in people's pockets and they will spend it!". It would also spare the theatrics like what we saw in the US of cheques/checks containing an individual's signature. Also an idea I have heard and thought of in matters UHC. It involves the gov't/CBK directly depositing/marking up funds in your account every fiscal year and if you don't exhaust it you get to spend it on a holiday or anything else. Accordingly, CBK has prepared the Discussion Paper that outlines the evolution of payments globally and in Kenya and discusses recent digital payment methods including electronic money, CBDC, stable coins and other cryptocurrencies. It outlines Kenya’s payment landscape and assesses the potential applicability of CBDC. Further, it highlights the potential opportunities and risks presented by CBDC. Facebook advisory on sharing of private residential addresses and images

Meta's Oversight Board has given guidance on policies related to the sharing of private residential addresses and images, and the contexts in which that information may be published on Facebook and Instagram. Among its recommendations, the Board advises that Meta: - Remove the exception that allows the sharing of private residential information when considered “publicly available.” - Create a specific communications channel for victims of doxing, which Meta respond to swiftly, and is available to people on and off of Meta’s platforms. - Consider violations of its Privacy Violations policy as “severe,” immediately suspending user accounts where the sharing of private residential information is clearly related to malicious action that creates a risk of violence or harassment.
