Listers, This is indeed good news. We have a lot of hope in Mucheru and Victor Kyalo industry veterans who have indeed worked their way through the trenches. Most importantly we hope to see the return of a multi stakeholder form of engagement in the sector which we have been yearning for in a while. I think as a sector we might need to prepare a wish list for our new leaders and most importantly commit to work with them towards achieving their mandate. The reshuffle is timely still it comes at the end of the year and will allow us to start 2016 on a new slate. Kenyan Tech Engineer, Zak Muriuki, Died in Ethiopian Jail

Listers Saddest news. It also appears that there are three more Kenyan ICT Practitioners who are still languishing in prison in Ethiopia. The main charge is that they are accused of installing communication equipment without a license. Mugo, was arrested with Zak (may the almighty rest his soul in peace) over a year ago and Osborne Otinda with his colleague Maxwell Odhiambo (according to today's Nation, Page 3) were arrested in October 2014 and are still in jail. Excerpts:- (Addis Standard) – The body of a Kenyan engineer who died while in an Ethiopian prison has arrived home on Thursday Dec. 11th. Zak Muriuki, a father of two girls (pictured) and a tech engineer by profession, arrived in Ethiopia nearly two years ago on January 9, 2015, according to information obtained by Addis Standard. He was arrested on January 10 along with another Kenyan, Jadrick Mugo, who is still in prison. Kanini and listers:- *(a) Should the spreading of Fake News be a crime? How about when Fake News leads to incitement? * I'll be super careful not to fight/kill a mosquito with a hammer. Firstly, unfortunately as mentioned earlier, Fake News is nothing more than Propaganda. And Propaganda is a tool best used by State Players or Players seeking to be State Players. So first let's address this issue. Let's look at the biggest & baddest Fake News Purveyors in the world:- 1. Donald Trump. 2. Putin. Need I say more? As the NCIC threatens small bit players, I would like them to tell us how they have dealt with State Players or Players seeking to be State Players. Unfortunately their record here leaves alot to be desired. There is enough within the legal framework to prosecute those who deliberately seek to mislead us and derail nation building. *(b) The NCIC (National Cohesion and Integration Commission) and the CA (Communications Authority); do these agencies have the sufficient mandate to combat Fake News?* I believe they do. The question is how willing they are to prosecute culprits and how impartial they can be and should be. *(c) Is it time we regulated social media use? How? * Why not come into my bedroom too and regulate what I say to my wife? How about before the government issues a license for public rallies/parties/weddings etc you give us a script on what to say or not to say? C'mon guys! We have been through this conversation before. We have a constitution, a penal code.
