Hi All, All mobile companies in Kenya will be able to tell you how much biz they are loosing to .what's app in terms of subscribers and further more the loss of sms traffic will provide a good yardstick. Else, get the CA to ask FB for the numbers that is easy and they Will provide the numbers if they want to comply with regulatory requirements. FB - please provide the numbers it is nothing to be ashamed about. I think it's totally in order going forward to start getting official stats on OTTs considering their increased role in Kenya's ecosystem. I however don't agree that Telcos are making losses due to the OTTs like WhatsApp. Nowhere is it required that because you use telco X you use their SMSs now and in the future. Everyday they have to offer value to you as a customer to convince you keep using their services. Dear Listers, ICANN has in partnership with KeNIC has organized a YouthComm (Youth Community) workshop slated fro May 25 - 26 , 2016. The Youthcom workshop initiative targets to introduce the youth (under 30 years) from various backgrounds not only to ICANN but the wider Internet ecosystem with an aim of ensuring this new audience, are prepared early enough to help them participate effectively in the internet ecosystem when they grow older. Effectively, this particular programme further enhances other ICANN programs like *NexTGen* : https://www.icann.org/development-and-public-responsibility/nextgen and *Fellowship * that you may be aware of, only that this is an opportunity to reach as many youth at the national level as possible over a 2-day workshop. ICANN has identified experienced facilitators supported by ICANN staff and community members with diverse knowledge in Internet Governance and Policy Making that will go a long way in mentoring the youth.
