Yes....except that the most vocal civil society are funded by alien governments, vested interests and private corporation to whom they have alligience. When the funders say "jump" they automatically jump, without questioning. So? What quarantee is there that the biometric data will actuall not be stored in far flung places, accessed under foreign laws? Anyway, government is obligated to have indisputable proof of her citizens. Alternatively, every citizen excercises their "right to be forgotten" by the government and we all live happily ever after.
