The Public Procurement Administrative Review Board has cancelled the tender award to Indian firm Olive Technologies to supply and install laptops for Standard One Pupils. In a ruling made Wednesday afternoon, the board chaired by Josephine Mong'are reversed the tender and ordered the procurement committee to retender within 45 days. True true. Like it is said, Feedback is a gift. We do need to listen to such views and ask ourselves if they are true. At the same time, we need to look at technology as more than mobile apps. There is precious little discussed here about energy, automotive, engineering, materials science, biotechnology and so on. We need to expand our discussion beyond internet policies and mobile apps. That is what will make us a tech hub. Listers Apologies for cross-posting. A Strategic Review is usually a euphemism for preparing to exit. I'm surprised it's taken this long for Orange to come to the conclusion that its position is no longer tenable. Even the laziest Board will eventually blanch at so much red ink.. CAK will eventually be faced with an interesting scenario... We are indeed living in interesting times.. Even as Orange is complaining of losses, I have at least five lines that haven't worked for a year despite letters from CAK asking them to explain. Hello Friends I am looking for some help from experts in this list, I have a content rich website which will be used by users in kenya. Can you suggest me where I can host it? Rates I got from safaricom is very high. Is there any cloud service which I can use and rates are comparable to amazon. Critical points are me 1. As it is content base site so data transfer will be very high 2. Latency is critical factor 3. Uptime Which countries has direct pipe connection with kenya? Listers, A bit off-the-cuff, but nevertheless, it affects us all, and maybe, we could come up with a common proposal about the recent announcements that the top guys are taking a payroll cut! Now, if we are to spin this around, the amount of money that is going to be left on the table, looked at as a % of the total salaries would will be negligible. Also, once this money is returned to general GoK cash pool it will just get 'eaten' the same way 30% of our total revenue collection gets 'eaten'. I wonder, what if we are to propose some projects right around the whole country, that could be funded by these 'refunded' monies? Say we can collect Ksh5M / month from these refunds, this is enough money that on a round-robin basis could be used to setup a computer lab in a National School and I think the effect would be a lot more than returning this money to the Ksh 1 Trillion Pool.
