Cofek to sue CCK for defaulting on television deal

“Customers who fail to pay subscription fees on time will continue to access the must-carry free-to-air services (FTA) for a period of at least two weeks,” read a letter from CCK director-general Francis Wangusi (pictured, below left) to pay-TV providers. Through the letter, CCK is reneging on an earlier agreement with Cofek that made it compulsory for pay-TV companies to give subscribers access to all free-to-air channels, even without a paid-up subscription. Excellent take daktari. It really shows the depravity of this society that a grownup woman would choose to lie shame facedly just to avoid responsibility. It's almost like a venal need we have to to do injury to our fellow Kenyans, I mean what changed from her insistence that you hit her to now wanting to cover your costs? Couldn't she have come to that conclusion immediately she realized her mistake? No, she'd rather go for your jugular first unless you show an upper hand. I support technology fully to instill behavior change. Until people begin to get penalties from their insurance after being caught running lights and this goes to a database that other insurance companies can access, we won't be able to reign in these idiots. This is the very reason why I mounted a digicam on my car. She starts to plead with me. She offers to cover my cost. I said no but asked her to put it in writing that she was on the wrong. Happy 2014, Content will always be king indeed, now Africa has the largest yet untapped resource in terms of content, just how fast we want to convert this to monetary and technological value is the question. Its time for governments to take the plunge and switch over to the massive digital platform despite the challenges. The longer its delayed the longer it takes to learn from the challenges. Telcos fail CCK compliance test

The country's four mobile network operators failed the CCK quality service test for year 2012/2013. The research focused on completed call rate, call setup success rate, dropped calls, speech quality, handover success rate, call setup time, and signal strength. The report revealed that non of the operators complied with the set rules over a period of three years. Telkom Kenya had the highest compliance level (62%), and Safaricom had the worst completed calls rate. The penalty for non-compliance is Ksh500,000 but CCK did not indicate if it will take any action.
