As a part-time editor...you are wrong. What we are suggesting is doable. We just have to pay for it. The person who said cost-cutting is one of the reasons for the poor quality maybe on to something. RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the organization’s ICT program • Responsible for leading the ICT technical approach across multiple projects • Represent Danya before stakeholders and oversee implementation of activities throughout the Africa region • Contribute to annual work planning • Establish and maintain a productive relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs and community groups for smooth implementation • Work collaboratively with other project team members to ensure necessary program planning, development, resource availability and management activities function smoothly and efficiently Management • Work collaboratively with project staff and US-based headquarters staff to assure proper financial projections, reporting, spending and compliance with project terms and conditions. • Contribute to ensure projects meets set targets • Promote and support the dissemination of best practices among the project teams • Contribute to timely, accurate and appropriate reporting of program activities and results to the donor, including progress reports, and annual reports KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Computer science degree with post-graduate level training preferred • A minimum of 8+ years of senior level experience in designing and implementing ICT programs for social development programs • Significant experience in design and development of technology solutions to increase international development project impact • Project work experience with open source technology • Familiarity with the design of mobile phone applications • Demonstrated experience leading large ICT initiatives funded by international donor organizations, preferably funded by USAID or other USG agencies • Experience developing successful, replicable and sustainable projects • Expertise in research to practice – identifying best practices and adapting them to program realities • A team player accustomed to building team capacity, delegating working teams, and developing communities of learning among host country partners and counterparts • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills • Strong change management, results oriented and decision making skills • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform • Fluency in English • Ability to travel nationally and internationally CONTACT: Aaron Sundsmo Africa Regional Director Danya International, Inc. Friends, Here below is my Souvenir E-Mail from the Head of the Judiciary (perhaps the most important arm of government especially at the moment) as we go through a land-mark transition. Souvenir because it is the very first time I am receiving an EMAIL communication from a Head of the 3 arms of government (GoK). It is my second most treasured e-communications; the first being the Letter from then Head of Public Service, Prof. Philip Mbithi to all PS's, DG Intelligence (then Special Branch), Heads of State Corporations, etc cautioning them against connecting to Internet (read ARCC & UNEP) without the express clearance from his office. The third one was a reply from the then CEO of one of Kenya's top-most media houses when ARCC wrote to interest them in Internet and e-Mail. Your guess is as good as mine! I remember about 3 years ago when NVK-Mageuzi was scouting for a suitable person to spearhead development of its Roadmap, Duncan’s kept propping up! The preliminary thoughts he offered, even if only in terms of interrogations went a long way to inform and guide the Roadmap – which has to date greatly also influenced the thinking behind, formation and launch of the Diaspora Alliance and the G-47/Third Force.
